‘Life of a Wedding & Events Office Manager’
‘Life of a Wedding & Events Office Manager’
The Alderley Edge Hotel Bar & Restaurant has become one of the best Cheshire Hotel Wedding Venues in the area.
The Hotel is located in one of Cheshire’s most picturesque villages with views across the beautiful Cheshire countryside. This stunning Wedding venue can accommodate up to 120 guests or smaller for a more intimate affair and we only have one Wedding each day so you are guaranteed outstanding service and a dedicated Team. With your own exclusive bar and a private entrance, we will ensure that nothing is too much trouble on this very special day.
Lucy Wilson is our Wedding & Events Office Manager. Lucy has been at the Hotel for over two years now and since Lucy has been appointed, the Wedding & Events business has gone from strength to strength. Lucy has a wealth of knowledge within the Hospitality Business with over 16 years experience with previous roles including Operations Manager, Front of House Manager and Executive Head Housekeeper in quality AA 4 Star accredited Hotels in Cheshire and Yorkshire.
Lucy Explains,
My Team in the Events Office consists of Laura & Lian who are my Wedding & Events Coordinators and as a Team of 3 we work very well together and ensure that all our Brides & Grooms and Events Organisers are looked after to an exceptionally high standard throughout their time at the Hotel. The Hotel is a wonderful place to work and there is a great Team within the Hotel who are also very dedicated in ensuring that the customer journey is second to none.
What do you love the most about being a Wedding & Events Manager?
Who doesn’t love a good wedding? Weddings are such a happy and joyful occasion which is such a great atmosphere to be a part of, I love exceeding customers expectations and giving them a memorable experience by going above and beyond to help create their magical day.
What makes a successful Wedding?
Building trust and a relationship with the couple, being available and flexible when they need you, attention to detail, effective communicating to the Operational Team, great food and fantastic service.
What makes The Alderley Edge Hotel so special as a Wedding Venue?
The Hotel has gone through a major refurbishment enhancing the style, look and feel of the property of this chic boutique country house with wonderful gardens to match which are perfect for photographs. The Hotel Team in general are very focused and passionate in exceeding the customers expectations which they do on a regular basis, this is recognised through our guest feedback. My Coordinators Laura & Lian recently attended a Hitched Wedding Workshop ‘selling through customer service workshop’ which has enhanced their knowledge and they were able to bring new ideas back to work with them and implement them.
Favourite Wedding ideas?
Has to be the colour smoke bombs for photographs, always look amazing on pictures also my own personal regret was not having my special day on video, videography has come so far over the years and for me it’s a must have for any Wedding to capture all those special moments.
What’s your Top 5 Wedding tips?
- I believe there is no ‘right’ way to throw a Wedding, all Weddings are different and individual, I enjoy helping personalise each couples Wedding Day.
- Wedding insurance!!! I have recently experienced two Local Hotels that have unfortunately closed down for different reasons which is such a shame. Planning a Wedding can be stressful enough but to be in a position when you can end up losing thousands of pounds, it’s just not worth the risk!
- Plan and schedule target dates for tasks to be completed which always helps you stay organised and stress free!
- Take it all in as the day goes by in a flash, relax and let other people do the worrying for you!
- Get a good night’s sleep the day before!
What would you like to be involved in next?
Would love to donate a wedding to a Bride/Groom with a terminal illness.
Favourite Themes ?
Shabby chic and rustic.
How do you put a bride/groom at ease on the day ?
I believe having a familiar face on the day always puts the Bride & Groom at ease, for me it creates a sense of personal achievement knowing you have been part of their journey which begins before they have even stepped through the door at the initial enquiry stage right up until the following morning after the big day!
Still to this day I find Weddings very joyful and emotional all at the same time and struggle to hold back the tears during the vows and speeches!!
I thoroughly enjoy my role in the business and I feel I have found my niche, the feedback received from Brides, Grooms and Event Organisers is wonderful and overwhelming which drives me to continue to do what I love!!!
