LIFETIME AWARD FOR AHMET KURCER

Ahmet Kurcer, General Manager of the Alderley Edge Hotel, near Macclesfield, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from county magazine Cheshire Life.

The senior honour in the prestigious annual Food and Wine Awards recognises the professional values of his 33-year career in Manchester and Cheshire’s hotel and restaurant industry.

Ahmet Kurcer  moved from city centre Manchester to the smaller but renowned Alderley Edge Hotel 20 years ago.

Since then his customer service standards, Gourmet food and promotion of fresh local produce has, said the award judges, put the Alderley Edge Hotel even more firmly on the map of Northern Cuisine.

The award was presented by Shameless and former Coronation Street actor Chris Bisson at a glittering ceremony hosted by BBC North West’s political editor, Jim Hancock at the Whitworth Hall, Manchester.

Ahmet was honoured, he says, “to receive an award for something that I love doing, working with world class staff in an industry that I’m passionate about and in which there is always an opportunity to learn and improve.”

The award comes months after the Alderley Edge Hotel restyled the menu at its Alderley Restaurant to offer a unique flexibility for customers to scale their meals up or down in line with personal health, weight or dietary concerns.
