About Alderley Edge Hotel

Country house … noble heritage

The Edge

'The Edge'

Alderley Edge Hotel, on wooded slopes overlooking Cheshire’s most desirable village, offers a true country house welcome. The original Elizabethan-Gothic style home, built in 1850 for one of Manchester’s wealthy industrial elite, is in keeping with many grand mansions on ‘The Edge’. During the last century it has been home to a family of cotton merchants and a local doctor before being used to house American servicemen during the Second World War and then becoming a Cheshire hotel. Today it is owned by the J W Lees family – and its commanding location is matched only by its superb facilities and excellent reputation.

Discover, explore, enjoy

The Manchester skyline

Only two minutes walk from the village centre, Alderley Edge Hotel makes a great base for local exploration. There are exclusive shops – as there are in nearby Wilmslow. And we have a special arrangement with Alderley Edge Golf Club should you wish to play a few rounds there. From the hotel, you can walk onto ‘The Edge’ – a hilly wooded ridge with stunning views over Derbyshire and the Cheshire Plain. ‘The Edge’ has the oldest copper mines in England, going back nearly 3,000 years, and a centuries-old legend of wizardry and enchantment. Central Manchester is just 12 miles away. The airport, railway and motorway connections are all within easy reach.

Reviews:

I love food. Cooking it, reading about it, watching TV cookery shows and, of course, eating it. So in my book there’s little more satisfying than a plate full of amazing food beautifully presented. I was invited to Alderley Edge Hotel to take a look at the changes they’ve made lately to the decor and layout in their bar and dining area. Always elegant, it was perhaps looking a little dated, and the steps up and down to the restaurant placed limitations on diners and presented waiters with challenges. Testimonials

My family had the supreme pleasure of The Alderley Restaurant’s tasting menu, with wines, to celebrate our Silver Wedding and we have enjoyed Sunday lunch there with friends. The unique feature is always that the whole experience is not just about sheer food excellence.

That, in itself, is better than we have ever encountered and knowing this provides the confidence that every visit will be as consistently good as the last . But The Alderley Restaurant is more than that. It’s about a total package of customer care – from reception, front of house, right to the table and right through the meal.

Everything is just right – with a sense of professional pride running through a team that knows every job is being done correctly.

The overall experience is just as good as it gets.
